Norway's oldest auction house, founded in 1870 by Christian Walfrid Blomqvist as a frame-making workshop in Christiania (now Oslo). The gallery became the most important exhibition venue for contemporary art in Norway during the late 19th century, with Edvard Munch among the many artists who showed work there.
Today, Blomqvist holds a unique position as the world's leading expert on Edvard Munch, conducting two dedicated Munch auctions annually. The house offers both live auctions, held four times a year for the finest lots, and a year-round online platform covering a broad range of categories.
Beyond fine art and paintings, Blomqvist handles furniture, silver, porcelain, glass, jewelry, wine, carpets, oriental items, and photography. With over 150 years of history, the house remains the dominant force in the Norwegian auction market, located at its historic premises on Tordenskiolds gate in central Oslo.
