Goteborgs Auktionsverk was founded in 1681, making it the world's second oldest auction house, just seven years younger than Stockholms Auktionsverk. Originally run by the city of Gothenburg, the house was privatized in 1999 and is now part of the Auctionet group (Auction Network Sweden AB). The house moved in 2022 to Banehagsgatan 20 in the Klippan district, a characterful 1906 brick industrial building on Gothenburg's waterfront.
With over 7,500 indexed items, Goteborgs Auktionsverk is one of Sweden's largest auction houses by volume. The house holds daily online auctions through Auctionet alongside seasonal Quality Auctions for higher-value lots. Paintings, ceramics, art, and silver are the strongest categories.
