Hagelstam & Co was established in Helsinki in 1979 by Wenzel Hagelstam, making it Finland's oldest domestically owned auction house. Operating initially from Bulevardi 9 - an address that became synonymous with art auctions in the Finnish capital - the firm passed through several name changes (Bulevardi's Auctions from 1986, Hagelstam Fine Art Auctioneers from 1991) as it grew to include international and Russian art alongside Finnish works.

In 2011 the house opened Apollo Auctions as a branch focused on accessible art and design. The two operations merged in 2013 under the current name Hagelstam & Co, consolidating all functions from high-value fine art to Nordic design under one identity. Today, led by CEO Joachim Borgström, the house conducts monthly sales from its Tehtaankatu premises in Helsinki, moving more than 15,000 works per year.

Hagelstam & Co is Finland's foremost auction venue for paintings spanning the Finnish Golden Age to contemporary artists, and a leading market for antique silver, Nordic furniture, and fine jewelry. Notable results include an Anitra Lucander painting at 19,000 EUR, a Reidar Särestöniemi at 15,000 EUR, and a Paavo Tynell lamp at 12,000 EUR.
