One of Germany's leading auction houses, founded in Berlin in 1986 by five art dealers led by Bernd Schultz. Established in the historic Villa Grisebach on Fasanenstrasse, the house brought internationally recognized auction standards to a city still divided by the Wall.
Grisebach has been the top-selling auction house for Modern Art in Germany since 1988. The house holds semi-annual auctions covering fine art of the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries, photography (a dedicated department since 1998), and the ORANGERIE Selected Objects series. In December 2022, Max Beckmann's 'Selbstbildnis gelb-rosa' sold for 23.2 million euros, the highest price ever achieved at a German auction.
The company operates from its Berlin headquarters with additional offices in Dusseldorf, Munich, and Zurich.
