Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen is a Danish fine jewelry house founded in 1963 by goldsmith Ole Lynggaard (born 1936) in the Hellerup district north of central Copenhagen. Before establishing his workshop, Lynggaard spent five years travelling and studying his craft internationally, training in precious metal-shaping in Schwabisch Gmund, Germany, observing the high jewelry ateliers of Paris, and working in workshops on Fifth Avenue in New York. These formative years, combined with journeys through Egypt, Japan, China, and Thailand, shaped his distinctive design language rooted in organic forms and natural motifs.
From a single workshop, Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen grew into one of Scandinavia's most recognized fine jewelry brands. Each piece is handcrafted in the company's Copenhagen atelier, where goldsmiths work with 18-karat gold, diamonds, and colored gemstones. The brand's signature collections draw heavily from nature: Leaves features textured gold forms resembling dried foliage set with diamond spines; Snakes, created for the company's 50th anniversary in 2013, references Egyptian bas-reliefs that inspired the founder; and the Nature collection employs hand-engraved bamboo motifs. Other collections include Lotus, Boho, Elephant, and Shooting Stars.
The company remains family-owned across three generations. Charlotte Lynggaard, Ole's daughter, has served as Designer and Creative Director since 1992, introducing more floral and sculptural elements to the line. Her brother Soren Lynggaard serves as CEO. In 2008, Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen received the designation "By Appointment to the Royal Danish Court," granted after 25 years of service to the Danish royal family. Charlotte designed the Midnight Tiara, worn by Crown Princess Mary, a piece requiring over 300 hours of handwork.
On the secondary market, Ole Lynggaard pieces appear frequently at Nordic auction houses including Bruun Rasmussen, Lauritz.com, and Auctionet. The most sought-after items include pieces from the Snake and Leaves collections in 18-karat gold with diamonds, as well as vintage designs from the 1960s and 1970s that reflect the founder's early aesthetic. Gold charm bracelets, statement rings, and one-of-a-kind pieces command particular attention from collectors.
