Ola Wihlborg is a Swedish industrial and product designer whose practice spans furniture, lighting, and decorative objects. He studied furniture and product design at Beckmans College of Design in Stockholm, graduating in 2004, and quickly established himself as a freelance designer operating from a studio in southern Sweden.

His early recognition came through a series of exhibition appearances that brought his work to international audiences. Wihlborg showed in 'Stars' at Galerie Pascale, at the Design Biennale in Saint-Étienne, at Swedish Design in Tokyo, at 100% Design London, and at Möbelmässan Stockholm. These showings attracted commissions from Swedish design brands including Asplund and Collection Pascale, alongside work for the toy manufacturer Playsam.

The most visible thread of Wihlborg's career has been a sustained relationship with IKEA that has produced several distinct collections. His PS 2017 lamp, which draws on the silhouette of a military searchlight, became a collector's piece almost immediately after its release, appreciated for its adjustable dome and its ability to function as floor, wall, or table fixture. His BRUSEN outdoor sofa, released in 2019, won a Red Dot Design Award for its clean-lined approach to garden furniture. The STOCKHOLM 2025 collection, developed alongside Paulin Machado and Nike Karlsson, extended his furniture work into a 96-piece range. The modular sofa he designed for that collection emerged from over thirty prototypes, the brief being to solve the everyday frustration of cushions that constantly need repositioning.

Wihlborg has received the IKEA Scholarship in addition to the Red Dot recognition, and his work sits in the lineage of Swedish industrial design that prioritises material honesty and functional problem-solving over decorative gesture.

On the secondary market, Wihlborg's IKEA-designed pieces appear regularly at Swedish auction houses. The cabinet series from the STOCKHOLM collection, particularly display cabinets carrying the Stockholm name, have been the most actively traded, with top recorded prices reaching 11,500 SEK at auction. Växjö Auktionskammare handles the largest share of his pieces, followed by Stockholms Auktionsverk and Göteborgs Auktionsverk. Auction results on Auctionist.
