Marion Belin was born on 14 May 1933 in Vänersborg, a town on Lake Vänern in western Sweden. She moved to Stockholm to study at Konstfack, the University College of Arts, Crafts and Design, in the late 1950s, where she developed the draftsmanship and feel for colour that would define all her subsequent work.

Her paintings and gouaches are densely populated - curvy figures, horses, cats, foxes, flowering gardens, picnics and bridal parties fill the picture plane with an almost naive exuberance. The palette is resolutely warm: yellows, reds and deep greens pressed against each other without modulation, creating a sense of perpetual summer. Critics noted that while the imagery looks effortless and folk-art adjacent, the underlying composition and line rhythm show real formal control.

Belin settled in Västerås and became closely associated with its cultural life. She held her debut exhibition in 1980 and continued showing in galleries across Sweden, including Galerie Börjeson in Gothenburg and Galleri Ö.K. Her public commissions included a painted deer for Stadsparaden in Västerås, and her work entered the permanent collections of Västerås Konstmuseum and Statens konstråd. In 2017 she was nominated for Årets Västmanlänning, a regional honour recognising contribution to public life in Västmanland.

As a printmaker she worked primarily in lithography, producing signed and numbered editions - often hand-coloured - that circulated widely in the Swedish secondary market. Subjects such as "Picnic," "Summer" and "Bridal Couple" in editions of 290 to 410 demonstrate how deliberately she calibrated her prints for broad audiences without sacrificing the personal quality of her line.

Belin died on 24 December 2022 at the age of 89. On Auctionist, 21 items are catalogued across her name, predominantly prints and engravings appearing at Swedish houses including Sikö Kristianstad, Olsens Auktioner, Metropol, and Göteborgs Auktionsverk. Her top recorded result in this database is 9,500 EUR for an oil on canvas titled "Trädgårdsarbete" (Garden Work), with hand-coloured lithographs typically reaching 1,000-1,900 SEK.
