Solid pine, straight lines, and furniture built to last - these were the guiding principles of Sven Larsson's workshop in Sweden. While much of the furniture industry was moving toward veneered particleboard in the 1970s, Larsson went in the opposite direction, championing heavy, honest construction in solid pine. His pieces had a weightiness to them, both literally and aesthetically, that set them apart from the lighter-toned Scandinavian modernism of the previous decade.

Larsson founded his workshop and brand, Sven Larsson Möbelshop, in southern Sweden, operating primarily through the 1960s, 70s, and 80s. The shop produced a full range of domestic furniture - dining tables, coffee tables, benches, side tables, mirrors, chairs, and large sectional sofas - all unified by a consistent material language. Pine was left close to its natural color or given a light finish, and the joinery was sturdy and unpretentious. In some pieces, like the five-part sectional sofa in the "Tälja" series, the design had a quiet grandeur despite its rustic material.

The Möbelshop label sometimes reflects collaborative work within the workshop, with pieces attributed to both Sven Larsson and associates such as Christer Larsson. This workshop approach, where design and production were closely tied, was typical of smaller Swedish furniture ateliers of the period. Pieces were not mass-produced in the industrial sense, giving them a handcraft quality that collectors now respond to.

On the Swedish and Nordic auction market, Larsson's furniture circulates with steady frequency. The 34 items recorded in the Auctionist database have sold at auction houses across the country, from Helsingborgs Auktionskammare to Stockholms Auktionsverk. Top results include a five-piece "Tälja" sofa group at 8,769 SEK and a pine drop-leaf table at 4,200 EUR. Tables dominate the auction lots, followed by miscellaneous pieces, chairs, and seating groups. The pine furniture revival of recent years has brought renewed collector interest to Larsson's work, particularly among buyers seeking durable, material-honest Scandinavian design from the 1970s.
