Skrufs Glasbruk belongs to the constellation of glassworks that earned the forests of southeastern Smaland the name Glasriket, the Kingdom of Crystal. Founded in 1897 in the village of Skruv, outside Lessebo, the factory joined a tradition that at its peak encompassed seventy-seven glass works within a small stretch of Swedish countryside. The combination of abundant fuel from the surrounding forests, the region's sand deposits, and a deep craft tradition had made Smaland the natural home of Swedish glassmaking since the eighteenth century.

For its first decades, Skruf produced utilitarian glass and simple household items. The shift toward artistic and decorative glass came in the 1950s, when the factory began collaborating with established designers. This was a period of intense creative activity across the Kingdom of Crystal, as Swedish glass houses competed to attract the best artistic talent. Skruf's collaborations with designers including Bengt Edenfalk and later Marianne Westman brought a fresh aesthetic to the factory's output. More recently, the glass artist and designer Carina Seth Andersson has contributed to the brand's catalogue, maintaining the connection between contemporary Swedish design and traditional glassblowing craft.

Skruf holds a particular distinction in Swedish public life: much of the glass used by the Swedish Parliament (Riksdagen) and by Swedish embassies around the world is produced here. This connection to official Sweden speaks to the factory's reputation for quality and understated elegance. The glassworks remains an active production site and tourist destination within Glasriket, where visitors can watch glassblowers at work and purchase directly from the factory.

At auction, Skruf glass appears across houses in southern and central Sweden, including Helsingborgs Auktionskammare, Gomer and Andersson, Vaxjo Auktionskammare, and Ekenbergs. The 188 items on Auctionist are predominantly glass tableware and decorative pieces. Complete glassware sets and art glass pieces reach the highest prices, with top results around 2,200 to 3,700 SEK.
