Per Söderberg belongs to a generation of Swedish designers shaped by two competing gravitational pulls: the functionalist clarity of the Nordic tradition and the material sophistication he encountered in Italy. He has spent his career trying to find where those two impulses meet.

Raised in Stockholm, Söderberg managed to work at an architecture studio while still in secondary school - an early immersion that gave him practical grounding before any formal training. He later completed a master's degree at Domus Academy in Milan, one of the leading European design institutions, before returning to Stockholm where he established his own studio in 1997. In the years that followed, he took on interior design projects for international clients including Moschino, J.Lindeberg, and Orrefors, developing a practice that moved fluidly between architecture, spatial design, and object design.

For Asplund, the Stockholm furniture gallery, he designed the Funk sideboard - a piece that reflected his preference for clean volumes and considered proportions. But the project that came to define his public identity began in 2010, when he designed the first table in what would become the No Early Birds collection. Built around a distinctive cross-leg structure that eliminates the corner post and frees up knee space, the NEB table was produced in Sweden using natural materials and assembled with a mounting system designed for longevity rather than disposability.

The collection expanded over the following decade to include round and rectangular dining tables, coffee tables, a console, storage pieces, leather poufs, and candlesticks - all sharing the same architectural logic. Söderberg opened a showroom on Östermalm in Stockholm, where the collection is displayed alongside curated interior details. The NEB line has since been carried by galleries and retailers in Sweden and internationally, including a limited-edition collaboration with Artilleriet in Gothenburg.

At auction, Söderberg's work appears primarily at Stockholms Auktionsverk and Bukowskis, which together account for the majority of the 20 items catalogued on Auctionist. The NEB Rectangular Table is the most frequently sold piece, with a top result of 5,000 SEK. A pair of NEB Hexagon cafe tables reached 2,700 SEK, and the Funk sideboard for Asplund sold for 1,760 SEK. The auction presence is modest and consistent with a designer whose work is still in active production - pieces appearing at auction tend to be recent examples from the past decade.
