Olle Berlin was born in 1932 and made his debut as an artist in 1959. He built a career that moved across two distinct modes - printmaking and painting - and over several decades established a presence in the exhibition circuits of Stockholm, Malmö, Landskrona, and Kalmar. His dual focus on graphics and painting meant that his work reached audiences both through gallery walls and through the more accessible format of signed, numbered editions.

In his printmaking, Berlin worked primarily with lithography and aquatint. His editions range from intimate small runs - some as tight as 35 copies - to broader series in the hundreds, suggesting he worked at different scales depending on the project. The subjects are varied: landscapes, still lifes, studio scenes, and at times compositions with a surrealist edge, as documented by an aquatint described in auction records as 'surrealistiskt motiv'. His colour lithographs show a confident handling of tone and surface, with works such as 'Vattenlandskap' and 'Ateljébesök' among the titles that recur at auction.

During the 1980s, Berlin produced an extended body of work depicting life in healthcare facilities - an unusual subject choice that distinguishes him from his contemporaries and reflects a social engagement with spaces and people typically outside the art world's frame of attention. He also created a series of author portraits, including a colour lithograph of August Strindberg, which connects him to a longer Swedish tradition of commemorating cultural figures through printmaking.

From the mid-1990s onward, Berlin shifted focus toward painting. His oil on canvas 'Yellow ceiling' (1989) suggests he was already moving in that direction in the late 1980s, anticipating the transition that would define his later practice. He died in 2021.

Berlin's work is held in the collections of Kalmar Konstmuseum, Malmö Museum, Malmö Municipality, Malmöhus County Council, and the State Collections (Statens konstsamlingar). He received the Malmö Sparbank artist scholarship in 1966 and the Ellen Trotzig scholarship in 1968. On the Nordic secondary market, his work appears at houses including Gomér and Andersson, Kalmar Auktionsverk, and Helsingborgs Auktionskammare. Auction results have been modest - signed and numbered prints typically sell in the 250-300 SEK range - placing him in the category of regional Swedish graphic artists with museum representation but limited collector demand at this time.
