Frederik Næblerød was born in 1988 in Frederiksberg, a municipality within Copenhagen, and grew up in a household with no particular connection to the visual arts. As a teenager he found his way into Copenhagen's graffiti scene, an environment that gave him an early, practical education in color, scale, and the relationship between image and public space. That background remained visible in his later work long after he moved into gallery and museum contexts.

Næblerød first applied to the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and was rejected, reportedly due to concerns about his capacity to sit still in an institutional setting. He instead attended Kunstskolen Spektrum, a private preparatory school in Copenhagen, where he developed the disciplined approach that eventually got him into the Academy. He graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 2018 with an MFA, and in the same year showed "Flying Away from Society" at Alice Folker Gallery in Copenhagen. That exhibition, which explored themes of escape and isolation through grotesque and playful figures, was nominated for the AICA Prize (the Danish Art Critics Award).

His practice spans painting, ceramics, bronze casting, drawing, and installation. The works draw on science fiction, mythology, dream imagery, and everyday observations, filtering them through a visual language that is simultaneously humorous and unsettling. Figures in his canvases and sculptures tend toward the exaggerated and the absurd - characters caught mid-gesture in states of desire, exhaustion, or absurdist comedy. The ceramic work, which Næblerød developed seriously from around 2020, brings a different physical register to the same cast of figures: tactile, imperfect surfaces that resist the polish of conventional sculpture.

In 2019 Næblerød and fellow artist Casper Aguila received an award from the Danish Arts Foundation for their joint exhibition at Alice Folker Gallery. The two continued collaborating, and in 2025 their duo exhibition "TIMELINE" at Odsherreds Kunstmuseum also received recognition from the Danish Arts Foundation. The largest institutional statement of Næblerød's career to date came with "All Walks of Life" at ARKEN Museum of Contemporary Art, which ran from February 6 to September 21, 2025, spanning seven galleries with paintings, ceramics, bronze sculptures, and a photographic collage wall. During the exhibition Næblerød relocated his studio to the museum, producing new work on-site. The show resulted in a forty percent increase in ARKEN's attendance figures.

On Auctionist, Næblerød's 15 catalogued items are almost entirely paintings, all handled through Bruun Rasmussen. His top recorded sale on the platform is 22,000 DKK for "Pain Scale" (2013), followed by two untitled oil paintings at 11,000 DKK and 10,500 DKK respectively. With 4 works currently active at auction, his market presence is growing in step with his institutional profile.
