Eero Johannes von Boehm was born on August 14, 1949 in Helsinki, into a family that carried with it the weight of a German-Finnish noble name. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Helsinki, graduating as a painter in 1975. From the 1980s onward, he exhibited regularly in Finland, building a career rooted in close observation of everyday objects and the natural world.

Von Boehm's work circles back repeatedly to a handful of subjects: fruit and flowers arranged on tabletops, glass vessels catching the light, birds studied with an almost scientific attentiveness, and views of Helsinki's waterfront neighborhoods - particularly the Katajanokka peninsula. His still lifes carry a northern restraint, favoring clear forms and muted ambient light over theatrical drama. The influence of the Finnish figurative tradition, with its emphasis on careful draughtsmanship and tonal honesty, is visible throughout his output.

His animal studies - pikes in water, birds perched or in flight - show a different side of his practice, one more attuned to movement and biological specificity. Works like his painted pike compositions suggest a genuine naturalist's curiosity. The combination of domestic still life and natural history subjects gave his career an unusual range for a painter working primarily in oil.

Von Boehm died in Helsinki on September 9, 2012, leaving behind a body of work that remained primarily within the Finnish auction circuit. He was a member of the Finnish Painters' Association and exhibited in individual shows through the final decades of his career.

At auction, his work appears primarily through Finnish and Swedish houses. On Auctionist, 19 lots have been recorded across Hagelstam & Co (9 lots), Bukowskis Helsinki (7 lots), and Bukowskis Stockholm (2 lots). All items are from completed sales. Top results include a fruit still life (Fruktstilleben) that sold for 3,313 EUR, a still life with lemons (Stilleben med citroner) at 2,387 EUR, and a glass jug composition (Glaskanna) at 2,297 EUR - all through Bukowskis or Hagelstam. These figures place him solidly within the mid-market tier of Finnish postwar figurative painters.
