Camilla Forssell Pyk was born in 1966 on Lidingö, an island suburb of Stockholm. She comes from a multigenerational family of artists, tracing her lineage back five generations to the engraver Ludvig Ruben. That inherited visual sensibility shaped her early relationship with image-making, though her own practice eventually diverged into something distinctly personal - large-scale oil paintings built around colour, form, and a quick, gestural line.

Since her debut in 1991, Pyk has maintained an active exhibition programme across Sweden, England, Germany, France, Greece, and the Netherlands. Her work sits at the intersection of figurative painting and allegory: recurring characters drawn from nature and human life - animals, faces, solitary figures - stand in for psychological states and social roles. The images carry what she has described as an almost linguistic readability, where the composition communicates before the viewer has time to consciously interpret it.

Her primary medium is oil on canvas, applied with spontaneity and a directness that resists laboured finish. She also produces colour lithographs in numbered editions, and mixed-media works in smaller formats. Studios on Lidingö, in London, and in Amsterdam have formed the geographic basis of her practice since 2018, with each location feeding different aspects of the work.

Pyk is represented in the collections of Sörmlands Museum and Lidingö Konsthall. She was named Artist of the Year by the Swedish newspapers Dagens Nyheter and Expressen, and received the Årets Bild award from the art association Våga Se. Her commercial clients have included the Jewish Community of Stockholm, SEB bank, Lantmännens Riksförbund, and Södra Skogsägarna.

On the auction market, Pyk appears primarily through her colour lithograph editions. At Auctionist, she has 14 recorded lots, concentrated at houses including Norrlands Auktionsverk, Metropol, and Stockholms Auktionsverk Magasin 5. Realized prices for her prints have ranged from 82 to 700 SEK, reflecting the accessible entry point of her edition work. Her paintings, which appear less frequently at auction, attract stronger interest when they surface.
