Uppsala Auktionskammare was founded in 1731 and is the third oldest auction house in the world, predating both Sotheby's and Christie's. Located at Ostra Agatan 39 in Uppsala along the Fyris River, the house has built a distinguished reputation for high-end Fine Art auctions specializing in paintings, ceramics, silver, and watches.
The modern chapter began in 1996 when Knut Knutson took over the business. Under Knutson's leadership the house expanded significantly, acquiring Crafoord auctions in Lund in 2009 and establishing offices in Stockholm, Gothenburg, and Malmo.
In June 2025, Stockholms Auktionsverk acquired Uppsala Auktionskammare, merging two of Sweden's most historic auction institutions.
